What Electric Lemon is
Electric Lemon is the restaurant and rooftop bar on the 24th floor of the Equinox Hotel at 33 Hudson Yards, on the far West Side of Manhattan. It opened in August 2019 with the hotel and belongs to Starr Restaurants, the group behind Le Coucou, Pastis and Buddakan. The dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows, mid-century furniture and a long bar; the terrace outside is about 8,000 square feet, with a mesh sculpture, lounge seating, fire pits, an outdoor bar and an infinity pool that belongs to the hotel and is not for diners.
The pitch is clean, seasonal American cooking built on Mid-Atlantic farms, with naturally raised meat and a wine list weighted towards organic and biodynamic producers. In practice it is a hotel restaurant with a very good view: the terrace faces west over the Hudson River towards New Jersey, and the crowd moves outside from late afternoon for cocktails at golden hour.
Time Out reviewed it in April 2026 and gave it three stars out of five, praising the terrace and the burger and calling the cooking competent rather than remarkable. The Infatuation’s 2022 review reached a similar verdict: a Stephen Starr restaurant, so the food is better than the average view restaurant, and the terrace is the reason to go.
Who cooks here
The executive chef is Sergio Ortega, who was born in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, trained at the Art Institute of California in Santa Ana, and worked as a sous chef in California and Austin before becoming chef de cuisine at Atla Venice, Enrique Olvera’s Los Angeles restaurant. He took over the Electric Lemon kitchen under Starr Restaurants. The wine programme, built at opening around 160 labels organised by landscape rather than by grape, was set up by beverage manager Natascha Patterer.
Awards and press
- Michelin Guide New York: received a Michelin Plate in the 2021 selection and remains listed in the Guide as a contemporary restaurant.

How the menu works
Electric Lemon runs five services with separate à la carte menus. There is no tasting menu.
- Breakfast (weekdays): eggs, pancakes, avocado toast and pastries.
- Lunch (weekdays): salads, a burger, fish and lighter mains.
- Dinner (nightly): starters such as marinated razor clams, hay-roasted oysters and deviled crab, then mains such as whole roasted trout, pasture-raised chicken, lemon spaghetti with bottarga and the cheeseburger, plus sides and desserts.
- Brunch (Saturday and Sunday until 15:00): avocado toast, a breakfast sandwich, a farm egg omelette, flaxseed pancakes and breakfast cocktails.
- Terrace bar (from 17:00 daily): a signature cocktail list, non-alcoholic cocktails, wine by the glass and a short snack menu.
The menu is seasonal and changes several times a year, so treat the dishes above as examples.
What I ate
I filmed here in June for the sunset rather than for a full dinner, and the reel is about the terrace: the view over the Hudson, the cocktails at the outdoor bar and the pool level. My advice from that evening is the practical one: book a dinner table for the hour before sunset, or come early to the bar, because the terrace is the part everyone wants.
What it costs
Prices below are from the restaurant’s 2026 menus and the Time Out review of April 2026. New York adds 8.875 percent sales tax, and a tip of 20 percent is expected.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Dinner appetisers | 17 to 26 USD |
| Dinner mains | 26 to 60 USD |
| Cheeseburger | 32 USD |
| Desserts | 12 to 17 USD |
| Signature cocktails | 20 to 34 USD |
| Electric Lemon Martini | 22 USD |
| Non-alcoholic cocktails | 15 to 18 USD |
| Brunch: avocado toast | 20 USD |
| Brunch: breakfast sandwich | 19 USD |
| Brunch: omelette or flaxseed pancake | 18 USD |

Dinner with a starter, a main and one cocktail is roughly 90 to 140 USD per person before tax and tip. Two cocktails on the terrace with no food comes to 45 to 70 USD. Brunch for one with a plate and a coffee is about 30 to 40 USD. Prices move, so check the menu on the day.
How to book
- Dining room: Resy, search for Electric Lemon, or call 212 812 9202. Book several days ahead for Friday and Saturday dinner and for brunch; weekday lunch and breakfast are usually easy.
- Terrace: walk-ins are accepted and seats at the outdoor bar are usually available, but tables fill by sunset on warm evenings. A dinner reservation with a request for terrace seating is the most reliable route.
- Private dining: a private room seats up to 50; enquire at electriclemon.info@starr-restaurants.com.
- Instagram: @electriclemonnyc.
Getting there
- Address: 33 Hudson Yards, New York, NY 10001. The Equinox Hotel entrance is on West 33rd Street between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues; take the lift to the 24th floor.
- Subway: 34th Street-Hudson Yards on the 7 train is two minutes away. 34th Street-Penn Station (A, C, E, 1, 2, 3) is about ten minutes on foot west along 33rd Street.
- From the High Line: the northern end of the park comes out at Hudson Yards, a three-minute walk.
- From the Vessel and The Shops at Hudson Yards: two minutes.
- Parking: the Hudson Yards garage on West 33rd Street and the hotel valet; both are expensive. Taxis and ride-hailing drop at the hotel door.
Before you go
- Time it for sunset. The terrace faces west. Check the sunset hour for your date and arrive 45 minutes before it.
- Bring a layer. Even in June the wind on the 24th floor is noticeable after dark; the fire pits help but do not cover every table.
- Dress up a little. Smart casual is the norm; the terrace crowd at golden hour is dressed for photos.
- The pool is for hotel guests. You can see it from the terrace but cannot use it as a diner.
- Cocktails are 20 USD and up. Budget accordingly for a drinks-only visit.
- Kids. Fine at brunch; the terrace at night is an adult crowd.
- Pair it with a Hudson Yards morning. For breakfast nearby, see my InCommon review, a small neighbourhood cafe a few blocks south.
- Check the hours before you go. The hours on this page come from the venue’s public listings, which drift, so confirm on Google Maps or the venue’s own channels before a special trip.

What are Electric Lemon's hours?+
Breakfast runs Monday to Friday from 7:00 to 10:30, lunch Monday to Friday from 11:30 to 15:00, and dinner every night from 17:00, closing at 22:00 Sunday to Thursday and 23:00 on Friday and Saturday. Do I need a reservation for Electric Lemon?+
For the dining room, yes; book on Resy or call 212 812 9202. The terrace bar is easier, and seats at the bar are usually available for walk-ins, but on warm evenings around sunset the terrace fills fast. If the terrace is the point of your visit, book a dinner table for the hour before sunset and ask for outdoor seating.
How much does dinner at Electric Lemon cost?+
Appetisers are 17 to 26 USD, mains 26 to 60 USD and desserts 12 to 17 USD on the 2026 menu. The cheeseburger is 32 USD and signature cocktails run 20 to 34 USD. Is there a dress code at Electric Lemon?+
There is no formal dress code. The hotel describes the norm as smart casual or elevated attire, and most guests dress up a little for dinner and for the terrace. Trainers and shorts are tolerated at brunch. Bring a layer for the terrace even in summer; the wind off the Hudson picks up after sunset.
What time is sunset at the Electric Lemon terrace?+
The terrace faces west over the Hudson River, so it catches the sunset directly. In June and July the sun sets around 20:20 to 20:30, in September around 19:00 and in December around 16:30. Because the bar opens at 17:00, winter sunsets are only visible from the dining room, which has floor-to-ceiling windows on the same side.
Is Electric Lemon in the Michelin Guide?+
Yes. Electric Lemon is listed in the Michelin Guide New York and received a Michelin Plate in the 2021 selection, the Guide's former designation for a good meal without a star or Bib Gourmand. It has never held a Michelin star.
