LU•UM
the wood-fired garden restaurant inside a former furniture showroom
Ibiza's hottest new restaurant is hiding behind a furniture store disguise. Most people drive right past it without realizing what's inside. What was once a designer showroom is now LU•UM, a beautiful garden restaurant serving wood-fired dishes, creative cocktails, and some of the island's most beautiful outdoor dining.
A Mediterranean wood-fire kitchen, cocktail bar and boutique on the Santa Eulalia to San Carlos road, opened in July 2024 in a converted furniture shop. Here is how the menu works, what it costs, how to book, and how to find the turning.

What LU•UM is
LU•UM is a wood-fire restaurant, cocktail bar and small boutique on the country road between Santa Eulalia del Rio and San Carlos, at kilometre 9.8. It opened in July 2024. The name comes from Mayan, where lu um refers to earth, soil or land, and the kitchen is built around that idea: an open charcoal and wood grill, a short menu, and produce sourced on the island or the mainland wherever possible.
The building was a design and furniture showroom before the restaurant took it on, and the owners later absorbed the adjoining shop space in the renovation. A boutique still trades on the site. That is the reason the place barely announces itself from the road, and why plenty of drivers pass it without registering that there is a restaurant behind the frontage. When I filmed there the giveaway was the garden, not the sign.
Inside and out it splits into four areas: a small tapas and cocktail bar, an enclosed dining room used for larger groups and events, an outdoor lounge with low seating and a herb garden, and a shaded terrace where the grill sits off to one side. Terracotta walls, pine furniture and raffia shades set the tone. There is a fenced play corner for children, which is unusual at this level of cooking in Ibiza.
Who is behind it
The kitchen is led by executive chef Jose Luis Estevan, who trained in Michelin-starred kitchens before taking on LU•UM. The grill is run by German, an Argentine-trained asador, which explains the presence of Argentinian beef on a Mediterranean menu. Marta runs the bar and the signature cocktail list, and Anita handles the floor and operations. Reviews of the restaurant tend to describe the hosts as Spanish and Persian, and the hospitality as the thing guests remember first.
How the menu works
There is no tasting menu and no fixed format. LU•UM serves a short a la carte card, deliberately small, divided into tapas and larger plates, nearly all of them touched by fire at some point.
- Tapas: around eight items, meant for sharing before the grill plates arrive.
- From the fire: vegetables, fish and meat cooked over wood and charcoal, finished with herb butters and sauces.
- Cocktails: a separate signature list, including non-alcoholic builds, plus organic and traditional Spanish wines by the glass.
- Also listed: a group menu for private events and a children’s menu.
What to order
These are the dishes the restaurant and recent reviews single out, rather than a fixed list. Expect the card to move with the season.
- Anchovies on crisp brioche with smoked butter.
- Patatas bravas with huacatay, a Peruvian black mint, and anticucho aioli.
- Fish tempura and steak tartare from the cold side of the menu.
- Roasted aubergines and grilled seasonal vegetables straight off the wood fire.
- Tuna parpatana, the collar cut, and grilled bone marrow with bluefin tuna.
- Entrecote of Argentinian beef, sealed over the open fire and sliced at the pass.
- Celery panna cotta, or the chocolate dessert served on toasted bread.
What it costs
LU•UM does not publish a full price list, so the figure below is an average spend from restaurant listings rather than a menu quote.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Dinner, per person, food only | Around 55 EUR, about 65 USD |
| Cocktails and wine | Charged separately |
| Tapas-only evening at the bar | Less, depending on how many plates |
For Ibiza in summer that is a mid-range bill rather than a splurge, and several guides describe the pricing as reasonable by island standards. Exchange rates and menus both move, so treat the euro figure as the reliable one and the dollar figure as an approximation.
How to book
Reservations are taken online at luumibiza.com, which runs through the CoverManager booking system, and by phone on +34 601 04 57 22. Instagram, at @luum_ibiza, is the fastest way to check whether the current week’s hours have changed.
Book ahead from June to September, when Ibiza’s restaurant supply is tight and this one has been picking up attention. Outside the high season a few days is usually enough. The cocktail bar and lounge are the parts most likely to absorb a walk-in, and they are a reasonable plan B if the terrace is full.
Getting there
- Address: Carretera de Santa Eulalia a San Carlos, km 9.8, 07849 Santa Eulalia del Rio, Ibiza, Balearic Islands.
- From Santa Eulalia: about 10 to 15 minutes by car heading inland towards San Carlos.
- From Ibiza Town: roughly 30 minutes.
- From Ibiza airport: allow 35 to 45 minutes.
- Parking: free, on site. There is no useful bus service for a late dinner, so drive or take a taxi and arrange the return.
- Navigation: search the restaurant by name rather than the road, and watch for the boutique frontage rather than a restaurant sign.
Before you go
- Dinner only. The kitchen does not open until 19:00, and Mondays are closed.
- Late is fine. Service runs to 01:00, which makes this a workable dinner before a night out rather than after one.
- It is countryside. Unlit rural road, so note the turning on the way in if you are driving back in the dark.
- Bring the children if you have them. The play area and children’s menu are real, not an afterthought.
- Leave time for the bar. The cocktail list is treated as seriously as the grill, and the lounge is the part of the site people linger in.
- Book the terrace specifically if the garden is what you came for; the indoor room is the group and event space.
- Check the hours before you go. The hours on this page come from the venue’s public listings, which drift, so confirm on Google Maps or the venue’s own channels before a special trip.

Frequently asked questions
Where exactly is LU•UM in Ibiza?+
LU•UM sits on the Carretera de Santa Eulalia a San Carlos at kilometre 9.8, in the 07849 postcode, roughly halfway between the two villages. It is countryside rather than town, about fifteen minutes by car from Santa Eulalia and around thirty from Ibiza Town. There is free parking on the site, so driving is the normal way to arrive.
How much does dinner at LU•UM cost?+
Listings put the average spend at about 55 EUR per person, roughly 65 USD, for food before drinks. Cocktails and wine push that higher, and the tapas bar is a cheaper way in if you only want a few plates. LU•UM does not publish its full menu prices online, so treat the figure as an average rather than a fixed rate.
Do I need to book a table at LU•UM?+
Booking is strongly advised, especially between June and September. Reservations go through luumibiza.com, which runs on the CoverManager system, and the restaurant can also be reached on +34 601 04 57 22 or through Instagram at @luum_ibiza. The bar area is the part most likely to take a walk-in.
What days is LU•UM open?+
LU•UM opens Tuesday to Sunday from 19:00 until 01:00 and is closed on Mondays. It is a dinner-only address, with no lunch service listed. The kitchen runs through the evening, so a late table is possible in a way it is not at most Ibiza restaurants.
What kind of food does LU•UM serve?+
Mediterranean cooking built around a wood-fired grill, with touches from Middle Eastern and Peruvian kitchens. The short menu covers tapas such as anchovies on crisp brioche with smoked butter and patatas bravas with Peruvian green salsa, plus grilled vegetables, fish tempura, scallops, tuna parpatana and Argentinian entrecote from the fire. There is a separate cocktail list and a mix of organic and classic Spanish wines.
Is LU•UM good for vegetarians and families?+
Yes on both counts. LU•UM lists vegetarian and vegan options, and the fire does as much work on vegetables and aubergines as it does on meat. There is a children's menu and a fenced play area outside, which makes it one of the easier smart dinners in Ibiza to bring children to.
Was LU•UM really a furniture shop?+
The building was a design and furniture showroom before it became a restaurant, and the owners later took over the adjoining shop space during the renovation. A small boutique still operates on the site, which is why the place reads as a shop from the road. LU•UM opened as a restaurant in July 2024.
Is LU•UM open in winter?+
Yes. Unlike much of the island, LU•UM runs year round rather than closing after the summer season. Hours can tighten outside July and August, so check the current timetable on luumibiza.com or Instagram before driving out.
