What Niddo is
Niddo Café is a small coffee bar and bakery on the corner of Praga and Dinamarca in Colonia Juárez, a few minutes from Paseo de la Reforma. It opened in November 2020 as the coffee-and-bread offshoot of Niddo, the breakfast and lunch restaurant a few streets away on Dresde. It runs from 07:30 to 20:00 every day and is built for both a table and a takeaway cup.
The space is the draw. It was designed by Frida Escobedo, the Mexican architect who designed the Serpentine Pavilion in London in 2018 and who is leading the new modern and contemporary wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. She was a regular at Niddo before designing this. The room is small and worked in a green palette around a large terrazzo bar, with only a handful of interior tables and bar seats. Outside, iron seating designed by the same team is arranged so that the trees on the corner do the work of a park.
Coffee comes from Chiapas and Veracruz. The food is simple plates from the Niddo kitchen, sandwiches, and sweet and savoury baked goods, and in its first years the cafe also ran evening tastings and short courses in things like floristry and photography.
Niddo holds no guide listing or award.
Who is behind it
Niddo was founded by Karen Drijanski and her son Eduardo Plaschinski, a mother-and-son pair who built the project around what they call a non-traditional kitchen, with the line that all of their ingredients tell a story. The original Niddo opened in Colonia Juárez and became a fixture of the Mexico City breakfast circuit before the group added the cafe format.
Frida Escobedo designed the cafe in 2020 with Mauricio Mesta collaborating and Gustavo Silva on the team. That is unusual company for a corner coffee shop and it explains why the room gets written about in architecture press as much as in food guides.
How the menu works
Niddo Café is a drinks and bakery counter. If you want a full plated breakfast, that is the Dresde restaurant rather than this address.
- Espresso: single and double espresso, americano, cappuccino, latte, flat white, macchiato.
- Cold: cold brew and espresso tonic.
- Signature: the affogato, espresso poured over ice cream, at 160 ml.
- Not coffee: vanilla latte, ginger latte, mocha, golden milk, chai latte, London fog, ceremonial matcha.
- Food: bread and pastry baked for the group, sweet and savoury, plus sandwiches and simple plates from the Niddo kitchen.
- Evening: wine by the glass, which is what keeps the cafe open until eight.
What I filmed in June
I came for the coffee and the corner. The espresso drink is what the reel is built on, the beans are Chiapas, and the terrace under the trees on Praga is the prettiest place to drink a coffee outdoors in Juárez. That is the whole proposition and it is enough.
What it costs
Niddo publishes only part of its cafe pricing online. The figures below were the picture in 2026.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Affogato, 160 ml | 105 MXN, about 6 USD |
| Coffee and a pastry | Roughly 150 to 250 MXN, about 8 to 14 USD |
| Breakfast at the Dresde restaurant | Considerably higher, restaurant pricing |
Reviewers are consistent on one point: Niddo charges more than the cafes around it in Juárez, and people who love it say so anyway. Cards are accepted, the cafe also delivers through Rappi and Uber Eats, and prices move, so confirm at the counter.
How to book
Niddo Café does not take reservations. Walk in, order at the terrazzo bar, and take a seat inside or on the corner.
- Niddo Dresde, the restaurant at Dresde 2, does take bookings, through niddo.meitre.com.
- WhatsApp for the group: +52 56 2112 2117.
- Instagram: @niddocafe for the cafes and @_niddo for the restaurant.
- Phone: 55 5525 0262.
The only practical planning decision is timing. The corner tables fill from mid-morning on a weekend and there are very few of them.
Getting there
- Address: Praga 24, Colonia Juárez, 06600 Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City, on the corner.
- Neighbourhood: the Juárez grid of European street names between Paseo de la Reforma and the Zona Rosa, a walkable district of galleries, small restaurants and design shops.
- Metro: Insurgentes on Line 1 is about five minutes on foot. Cuauhtémoc, also Line 1, is a similar distance.
- Metrobús: Line 1 on Avenida Insurgentes, stop Hamburgo or Glorieta de Insurgentes.
- Walking: about ten minutes from the Ángel de la Independencia.
- Parking: street parking in Juárez is metered and difficult. Walk or take a ride app.
- The other addresses: Niddo Dresde at Dresde 2 and Niddo Oxford at Oxford 12 are both a few minutes away in the same neighbourhood; the cafes in Polanco, at Anatole France 129, and Roma Norte, at Córdoba 125, are separate trips.
Before you go
- Go early and sit outside. The terrace is the point, there are few seats, and the morning light on that corner is the best of the day.
- Know which Niddo you want. Praga 24 is coffee and bread. Dresde 2 is the sit-down breakfast with reservations. They are not interchangeable.
- It is small. A handful of tables and a bar. Not a work-from-laptop cafe, especially at the weekend.
- Try the affogato. Espresso over ice cream is the house drink and the cheapest published item on the menu.
- Expect Juárez prices. This is the expensive end of the neighbourhood’s coffee, by the general agreement of its own regulars.
- Pair it with the neighbourhood. HUMO, the brutalist coffee bar inside the SEUM store on Hamburgo, is a ten minute walk, and Rekō on Reforma is nearby for dinner.
- Check the hours before you go. The hours on this page come from the venue’s public listings, which drift, so confirm on Google Maps or the venue’s own channels before a special trip.

What is the difference between Niddo and Niddo Café?+
Niddo at Dresde 2 is the original sit-down restaurant, open for breakfast and lunch with table service and reservations. There is also Niddo Oxford at Oxford 12 in Juárez and Niddo Café branches in Polanco and Roma Norte.
Who designed Niddo Café?+
The architect Frida Escobedo designed Niddo Café, with Mauricio Mesta as collaborator and Gustavo Silva on the team, completed in 2020. Escobedo was a regular customer at the original Niddo before she took on the project. The room works a green palette against a large terrazzo bar, and the iron seating outside was designed by the same team to use the trees on the Praga corner.
What coffee does Niddo serve?+
Niddo sources its coffee from Chiapas and Veracruz. The drinks list covers single and double espresso, americano, cappuccino, latte, flat white, macchiato, cold brew and espresso tonic, plus vanilla and ginger lattes, mocha, golden milk, chai latte, London fog and ceremonial matcha. The affogato, espresso poured over ice cream, is the signature.
How much does Niddo Café cost?+
The one figure Niddo publishes on its cafe menu is the affogato at 105 MXN, about 6 USD. Coffee and a pastry comes to roughly 150 to 250 MXN, about 8 to 14 USD, and reviewers consistently note that Niddo prices above the rest of Colonia Juárez. A full breakfast at the Dresde restaurant costs considerably more. Prices move, so treat these as a guide.
What are Niddo Café's opening hours?+
Niddo Café at Praga 24 is open daily from 07:30 to 20:00, which makes it one of the earliest specialty coffee openings in Colonia Juárez. The Polanco and Roma Norte cafes run 07:30 to 22:00. The Dresde restaurant keeps restaurant hours instead and is the one that closes for a break in the afternoon.
Can I sit outside at Niddo Café?+
Yes, and it is the reason to go. The outdoor seating was designed as part of the project, using the trees on the Praga corner so the pavement reads as a small park. Inside there are only a few tables plus bar seating, so the terrace is where most people end up. Arrive before ten if you want a corner table on a weekend.
Who founded Niddo?+
Niddo was created by Karen Drijanski and her son Eduardo Plaschinski, who built the concept around a non-traditional kitchen and the idea that every ingredient carries a story. They opened the original Niddo in Colonia Juárez first and added the cafe on Praga in 2020, then grew the cafe format into Polanco and Roma Norte.
