What La Bellezza is

La Bellezza is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria at Praga 14 in colonia Juárez, Mexico City. It opened in 2026 and it is the first Latin American restaurant from Big Mamma Group, the Paris-based company whose maximalist trattorias in London, Paris and Madrid draw queues.

The venue is laid out as several connected worlds rather than one dining room. There is a main room decorated to the edge of excess, an indoor Italian garden with mirrors, plants and coloured furniture, a bar hidden behind a curtain with pink velvet seating and a large disco ball, and library nooks used for smaller private dinners. Hand-blown Murano glass chandeliers hang through the space, walls are covered in art and shelves are stacked with vintage bottles. Time Out México’s review also points out a small shrine to Maradona and a lounge decorated with jaguars.

The kitchen is Neapolitan pizza and fresh pasta, made daily, with Italian ingredients brought in from across Italy. It is the group’s standard formula, transplanted whole.

Who is behind it

Big Mamma Group was founded in Paris in 2015 by Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger. It now runs Italian restaurants across Europe under names including Circolo Popolare, Gloria, Ave Mario and the food hall La Felicità, all built on the same combination of theatrical interiors, Italian staff and mid-range prices. A second La Bellezza operates in Lille.

The Mexico City site came through a licensing agreement with Dinar, a Mexican hospitality group, which is how Big Mamma entered the region without opening it directly. The head chef in the kitchen is Mimmo, and the house ragù is his grandmother’s recipe.

How the menu works

Service is à la carte and designed for sharing. A normal order is an antipasto or two, a pizza, a pasta and a dessert between two people, and everything is made fresh each day.

  • Antipasti: burrata with truffle cream, beef tartare, octopus carpaccio with candied lemon.
  • Pasta: mafaldine, linguine and filled shapes such as ravioli, all handmade. The ragù is the house recipe.
  • Pizza: Neapolitan, on a 36 hour fermented dough that bakes in roughly 80 seconds. The Mammargherita di Bufala is the benchmark; the Netflix and Chili uses broccoli cream and fior di latte.
  • Mains: chicken parmigiana, lemon chicken skewers with spinach and a raita-style sauce.
  • Dessert: profiterole filled with pistachio gelato under dark chocolate sauce, and a chocolate mousse with olive oil and sea salt.
  • Groups: a fixed generous menu for parties of 10 to 18.

What I ate

The two dishes that defined my table were the mafaldine with fresh black truffle shaved over it and a Neapolitan pizza from the 36 hour dough. Both are the reason to come for the food rather than the room.

One honest note from my visit: the design exceeded every expectation I had, and the food had not yet caught up with it. Early Mexican reviews land in the same place, praising the execution and the service while noting the menu plays safe.

What it costs

Reported averages vary, so here is the range rather than a single number.

ItemPrice
Average spend per person750 to 1,500 MXN, about 40 to 80 USD
Group fixed menu, 10 to 18 peopleSet price, quoted when you book
DrinksCharged separately
ServiceNot included, 10 to 15 per cent is standard

The lower end of that range is a pizza, a shared antipasto and a glass of wine. The upper end is pasta with truffle, a bottle and dessert. My own read when filming was that the prices are normal for Mexico City, which is the Big Mamma promise: a spectacular room at everyday trattoria prices.

How to book

  • OpenTable: search for La Bellezza, Ciudad de México.
  • WhatsApp: 55 2941 5689.
  • Instagram: direct message @labellezza.mexico.
  • Restaurant line: 55 5533 3519.

Book ahead, especially Thursday to Saturday evenings. The restaurant deliberately keeps some tables unreserved at each service for walk ins, so arriving at opening is a real option. Groups of 10 to 18 and any privatisation of a room need to be arranged in advance.

Getting there

  • Address: Praga 14, Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City.
  • Metro: Insurgentes on Line 1, about ten minutes on foot.
  • Metrobús: Hamburgo or Reforma on Line 1.
  • Landmark: just south of Paseo de la Reforma, at the edge of the Zona Rosa, in the Juárez restaurant district.
  • Parking: street parking in Juárez is scarce in the evening. Ask about valet when you book, or take a ride app.

Before you go

  • Ask for the room you want. The garden, the main room, the hidden bar and the library nooks are four different evenings. Say which when you book.
  • Come for the pizza and pasta. They are what the kitchen does best. The rest of the menu is competent rather than surprising.
  • Give yourself time to look around. Half the point is the decoration, and most people walk the venue before sitting down.
  • Early lunch is the easy slot. The kitchen runs all afternoon and the room is far calmer before 18:00.
  • Pair it with the neighbourhood. Juárez is dense with places worth a second stop. For coffee and pastry nearby, see my La Valiente review on Hamburgo.
  • Check the hours before you go. The hours on this page come from the venue’s public listings, which drift, so confirm on Google Maps or the venue’s own channels before a special trip.

Frequently asked questions

Where is La Bellezza in Mexico City?+

La Bellezza is at Praga 14 in colonia Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City, on the quiet stretch of Praga just off Paseo de la Reforma. Metro Insurgentes on Line 1 is the closest station, roughly a ten minute walk, and the Hamburgo and Reforma stops on Metrobús Line 1 are also nearby. It is in the same walkable cluster as the Havre and Versalles restaurant streets.

Is La Bellezza part of Big Mamma Group?+

Yes. La Bellezza is Big Mamma Group's first restaurant in Latin America. Big Mamma was founded in Paris in 2015 by Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger and runs the Circolo Popolare, Gloria, Ave Mario and La Felicità restaurants across Europe. The Mexico City opening came through a licensing agreement with the Mexican hospitality group Dinar, and there is a La Bellezza in Lille under the same name.

How much does dinner at La Bellezza cost?+

Reports of the average spend at La Bellezza range from about 750 MXN to 1,500 MXN per person, roughly 40 to 80 USD, depending on how much pizza, pasta and wine is on the table. Big Mamma's model in Europe is deliberately mid-priced for the level of the room, and the Mexico City menu is described as in line with normal Mexico City prices. There is a fixed menu for groups of 10 to 18 people.

Do I need a reservation at La Bellezza?+

Booking ahead is strongly advised, since La Bellezza has been the hyped opening of the season. It takes reservations through OpenTable, by direct message on Instagram at @labellezza.mexico and by WhatsApp on 55 2941 5689. The restaurant also keeps a selection of tables free for walk ins at every service, so an early arrival can still get in.

What are La Bellezza's opening hours?+

Time Out México lists La Bellezza as open Monday and Tuesday from 13:00 to 23:00, and Wednesday to Saturday from 13:00 to midnight. Sunday is not in that listing, so confirm before planning a Sunday meal. The kitchen runs through the afternoon, which makes a late lunch the easiest slot to get.

What should I order at La Bellezza?+

The two things La Bellezza is built on are the handmade pasta and the Neapolitan pizza. The mafaldine with fresh black truffle is the dish I would order again, and the pizzas use a 36 hour fermented dough that spends about 80 seconds in the oven, including the Mammargherita di Bufala and the Netflix and Chili with broccoli cream and fior di latte. Head chef Mimmo makes the ragù from his grandmother's recipe, and the profiterole with pistachio gelato and dark chocolate sauce is the signature dessert.

Is there really a secret bar at La Bellezza?+

Yes. Behind a curtain in La Bellezza there is a separate bar room with pink velvet chairs and a large disco ball, and it is part of the restaurant rather than a private club. The venue is laid out as several connected worlds: a maximalist main dining room, an indoor Italian garden with mirrors and plants, the hidden bar, and library nooks that work for smaller private dinners. Ask which room you are being seated in when you book.

Is La Bellezza good for a group?+

Yes, and it is set up for it. La Bellezza offers a fixed group menu for parties of 10 to 18 people and will privatise part or all of the venue for birthdays and corporate events. The share-friendly menu of pizzas, pastas and antipasti suits a long table, and the library nooks give a group some separation from the main room.
